Day 1 – September 22: Tangier Port → Chefchaouen
Your Morocco adventure begins with a private pick-up at Tangier Port. Meet your driver and depart toward Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City nestled in the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and enjoy free time to explore the charming blue-painted streets of the Medina. Wander through the local souks, discover small cafés and shops, take photos, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful mountain town. Day 2 – September 23: Chefchaouen → Fes → Middle Atlas Mountains → Merzouga Sahara Desert
After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and begin your journey toward the Sahara Desert. Travel toward Fes, with the possibility of making a short stop in the city depending on your group’s preferred schedule. Continue toward Ifrane and the famous Cedar Forest before crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains. Travel through Midelt, known for its beautiful mountain scenery, and continue through the spectacular Ziz Valley toward Merzouga. In the afternoon, arrive at the edge of the Sahara Desert and begin your camel trek across the golden dunes. Enjoy a spectacular Sahara sunset before reaching your desert camp. In the evening, enjoy dinner, traditional Berber music, and the peaceful atmosphere of the desert beneath the stars. Overnight at a Sahara Desert Camp.
Day 3 – September 24: Sahara Desert Experience
Wake up early to enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, begin a private 4×4 excursion around the Sahara Desert. Explore the surrounding desert landscapes and discover the communities and traditions of the region. Depending on your group’s interests, the excursion can include a visit to a traditional nomadic family, a stop in Khamlia village to experience authentic Gnawa music, and time to explore the dunes. You can also try sandboarding and enjoy some free time to relax at the desert camp during the afternoon. Later, return to the dunes to enjoy another beautiful Sahara sunset. In the evening, enjoy dinner, traditional music, and another unforgettable night beneath the stars. Overnight at a Sahara Desert Camp.
Day 4 – September 25: Sahara Desert → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
After breakfast, leave the Sahara Desert and begin your journey toward Marrakech. Travel through Erfoud and the beautiful landscapes of southeastern Morocco before reaching Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural attractions. Continue through the Dades Valley and Valley of Roses toward Ouarzazate. From Ouarzazate, visit Ait Ben Haddou, the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most recognizable historic villages. After exploring Ait Ben Haddou, continue through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains and cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass before arriving in Marrakech. After checking in to your accommodation, enjoy a free evening to relax or explore the area around your hotel. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 5 – September 26: Guided Tour of Marrakech
After breakfast, meet your local guide and begin exploring Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most vibrant and fascinating cities. Discover the historic Medina, visit some of the city’s most important attractions, explore the colorful souks, admire traditional Moroccan architecture, and learn about the history and culture of Marrakech. Enjoy free time for lunch at a local restaurant and continue exploring the city at your own pace. In the afternoon, continue discovering the Medina and surrounding areas. In the evening, experience the lively atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa, where you can enjoy Moroccan food, local entertainment, shopping, and the unique energy of Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 6 – September 27: Marrakech → Tangier Port
After an early breakfast, depart Marrakech for Tangier. This will be a long-distance travel day, so we recommend an early departure to help ensure that your group arrives back at the port comfortably and on time. Travel north through Morocco with your private driver and enjoy the changing landscapes along the way. Upon arrival in Tangier, your driver will drop your group directly at Tangier Port, completing your Morocco adventure and allowing you to return to your Semester at Sea ship. Tour ends at Tangier Port.
